Paul Orberson, a high school teacher and coach from Kentucky by trade, founded FHTM on January 5, 2001, after years of struggle to provide for his family. Though he loved his career, he realized that some things had to change in order for his family to make it. In 1990, he began and succeeded in the line of network marketing. In fact, he succeeded so much that he actually retired at the age of 40.

However, he soon realized that sitting around was not for him. At that point, he contacted former Kentucky school superintendent, Tom Mills. They shared three things: previous employment with the school districts of Kentucky, retirement from the network marketing industry, and a passion to help others create success in their lives.

Today, FHTM has its hands in a variety of markets, ranging from Dish Network to The Wireless Shop to True Essentials.

Paul Orberson urges employees and representatives to give back to the community and continue to seek out innovative products to revolutionize the industry. Actually, Mr. Orberson first took on True Essentials for this very reason. After overcoming his battle with cancer, he wanted to focus on a healthier lifestyle and offer that opportunity to others. Thus, True Essentials became part of FHTM.

When reviewing the newsroom of FHTM, it is apparent that this company puts its money where its mouth is. Just from this year alone, dozens of press releases fill the screen with various services and philanthropic strides the company has made. This company gives back to tornado victims, the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, internships, breast cancer, and more.

FHTM prides itself on a foundation built upon values such as: honesty, respect, and responsibility. President Orberson strives to lead by example both within the walls of the company, as well as the community. His personal mantra comes from an African proverb, “Alone you can go faster, but together we can go further.”

Something that is different about FHTM is in its wide variety of products it carries. Unlike other direct marketing companies, FHTM makes available multiple brands such as: Amusement Pack, Magazines.com, Voice Connect, Envy Organics, Front Point Security, Identashield, EZ, Roadside Autoclub, ExpressOptical, Protection For Living, World Tour, Digital Landing, TCI Long Distance, and more.

Their philosophy is that as a distributor, you can offer competitive prices on all of the products that consumers already use. It makes sense. If people are going to purchase these products, it might as well be from you, right?

The FHTM Business Plan

FHTM utilizes the full scale of an MLM pay structure / compensation plan. Basically, representatives get bonuses each time they recruit other representatives. In addition, they earn a percentage of said recruits’ sales. The idea is that one creates a large and never-ending “downline” to create a constant income, self-perpetuating, and residual over time.

To encourage employees and representatives to sell various services and products, FHTM has a car program. If a representative sells over “x” amount of products, recruits “x” amount of representatives, and generates “x” amount of profit, they are eligible for the car program. This program provides them with a brand new 2011 BMW or whatever car FHTM promotes for the year, fully paid and insured.

Another competitive program offered includes the FHTM Leadership Travel Program. This program, given the representative meets the criteria, allows the distributer to travel to a destination with a guest, and meet up with Paul Orberson, and the other leaders of the company. Typically, the vacation lasts three to five days with all expenses paid.

I don’t know that anything major about this particular company stands out to me. I think they do have a niche with the idea of bringing multiple brands together and selling them in one central location. It certainly makes them more marketable and easier to sell people on their products, since these names are already established.

Final Thoughts About FHTM

However, FHTM is built on the MLM pay structure. Any time you see this, you have to ask yourself a few questions. Does this company focus more on recruiting people or selling the actual products and services? If the latter, then, proceed; if not, you may want to turn around, running and finding a different opportunity.

I would offer my word of caution here. FHTM is currently under investigation in four different states for pyramid scheme tactics. The biggest accusation(s) is that former employees claim they made way more money from recruiting than selling. Actually, they have the stubs to prove it, and have done so. FHTM was fined quite a large sum ($1 million) last year for one such case. FYI.

The other area to be concerned about is just the idea of network marketing. Can you sell things to your friends and family? Are you self-motivated and driven to make your dreams a success?

Often times with direct marketing companies, we see that thousands and thousands of individuals sign up to start their piece of the puzzle. This does not guarantee that they are successful, though. Until you have a solid “downline,” it’s going to be pennies for you.

My suggestion is that you really think this over, and if you decide this is for you, then, begin thinking about who you are going to market these services too. How? When? What will you sacrifice? How hard are you willing to work?

Every industry and company within that industry has a niche of some sort. There are pros and cons to everything; however, it’s finding the courage to move forward to expose those pros and get everyone else on board with you that makes the difference. If you’re highly driven and self-motivated, willing to work hard and sacrifice, jump aboard. FHTM may just be the right opportunity for you.
