“Search engines rule. And Google is their king. To get prospects to you, you need to rank high on Google. It’s as simple as that. -Ryan Nelson”
But how do you do it? That’s trickier to explain.
There are two ways: buy your way there or work your way there.
If you’re just starting your business, you will probably need to do both.
You can buy your way there by placing pay-per-click advertising. Set up an account with Google AdWords, and it’ll walk you through the process. Companies such as Wealth Masters International do some of this heavy lifting for their distributors – some do not.
Make sure to take note of the traffic of the keywords you are selecting.
If it’s too high, you are faced with stiff competition, and you’ll pay more to rank higher). If it’s too low, you won’t get enough people clicking through to your website.
There are no hard and fast rules here.
But you’ll probably spend more to rank high on a keyword getting 100 million hits a month. And you aren’t likely to meet your goals with anything getting under 1K.
Use your own judgment.
While your pay-per-click ads are humming along, start your SEO efforts. SEO stands for “search engine optimization” – and it’s a very, very good thing.
SEO is what will get you where you want to be – at the top of the search engines – without directly paying for it. Just remember that doesn’t mean you don’t have to invest your time, energy, and maybe some money, too, to get there. You are just not paying for pay-per-click advertising.
SEO involves content creation, article marketing, building back links, optimizing your site, and more.
Out of all of the various SEO methods (white, grey, and black hat), content reigns supreme. If Google is the king of search engines, content is the uncontested king of SEO.
You need to add high-quality, well-written SEO content to your site every day.
Read that sentence again – each element is very important!
The content must have the keywords in the right places, be of sufficient length, have the right keyword density, and have value to the reader.
It must also succinctly convey your brand. And it must convey a unique idea in an interesting, readable manner.
- Yes, it is time consuming.
- Yes, sometimes it’s like pulling teeth.
So get a professional content provider if you need to. It’s well worth the effort and the investment.
Remember, too, that websites that are frequently updated rank higher in Google. Your goal should be to post something new every day.
Some of that high-quality content can go toward your article marketing and backlink building effort, too. With article marketing, you distribute your well-written articles to other websites in an attempt to attract prospects to your site.
For backlinks, you put your content on a page of your site, Digg it, Tweet it, or promote it somehow to get other websites and blogs to link to your site as well (thereby creating backlinks).
The more links from high quality sources to your site, the better.
Now you can see just how important content is to your efforts to get to the top of Google.
So don’t waste another minute! Get busy writing – or find a professional content provider – and SEO your way to success.
