Networking marketing businesses, also known as direct marketing businesses and multi-level marketing businesses, have proven lucrative opportunities for many decades now. Probably the greatest thing about network marketing businesses is that marketing costs are reduced drastically and individuals on top create a network to earn money for them.

It’s pretty genius when you look at it from that perspective. While there may be millions and even billions of dollars in profits, however, individuals must be careful. All network marketing businesses walk the thin line of pyramid schemes. This issue should always be at the forefront of network marketing business owners’ minds.

How is it accomplished? How does one set up a network marketing company?

Just like starting any company, there are proper licenses to attain, as well as speaking to an attorney to get legal issues in order. The larger mlms of the industry are going to be corporations, but they didn’t start out that way. Decide what the proper channel for your business is and have goals to become incorporated by a certain period of time. Especially because of the nature of this type of company, a business starter would be wise to consult legal counsel.

Lets discuss the legal ramifications here. What’s the deal with pyramid schemes? Why are they looked at so negatively?

How To Set Up A Network Marketing Business?Pyramid schemes are all about getting rich quick. Instead of selling legitimate, viable, needed products, the focus is spent on building “downlines.” In other words, companies spend efforts on finding distributors, because they make money off of distributors’ initial fees and then, get those to recruit other distributors. There is little effort spent on developing new or wanted products. In addition, these schemes require distributors to load up on inventory, but offer little buy back power. Again, they’re concerned about making money, but not making their employees money.

Pyramid schemes are designed that some 85 percent, give or take, will not make any money, but will do all of the work. Of course, there are numerous types of pyramid schemes. The important thing is to avoid this in every way possible. Pyramid schemes are illegal.

Design a compensation plan within your business model that will be unique and not related to pyramid schemes in any way. Then, have your attorney look over your plans. They can tell you if what you are trying to accomplish is legal.

Starting a network marketing business is just like any other business. The biggest difference is the way you will market your products and compensate your employees.

Develop a product that is needed and wanted. Design a product that will be needed and wanted over a period of time. Next to avoidance of pyramid schemes, this is your other challenge.

Choose a name and logo. Register these. Get the patent on your products. Figure out how you will finance your company. While the majority of your marketing will happen via word of mouth from your distributors, you still need a website. You need to set up a training schedule for new distributors. Ongoing training is necessary. Perhaps, someone on your team needs to write these materials. What incentives will you offer your team members to encourage sales? Who will package your products? Where will you purchase your supplies? Who will keep your records? How will you attain regular employees like human resources, accountants, management, etc.? Each of these things needs to be sorted out. Again, this is why an attorney is strongly recommended.

Then, go to work, setting up your network. Get people on board with you and your business ambitions. Be sure that you can find people willing to sell your products and market them to their friends. Your company should take off from there.

You may be wise to offer free trials of products or some type of promotion to inform people about your products. This will help to start the word about your business.

Consult other mlm business owners. Get their advice. Read about other companies and research what has and has not worked for them. Seek out advice from industry leader, Michael Force. He offers many tips, information, and advice based on his experience in the networking marketing world. Read as much as you can on the subject.

Starting your own network marketing business can be a great experience. Be sure to do your research before doing so and make certain you are not crossing over to the pyramid scheme side of things.
