MonaVie was launched in 2005 to take over the business operations for the MonaVie juice product line from Monarch Health Sciences. MonaVie was founded by Dallin Larsen, Henry Marsh, and Dallin’s brother, Randy.

The three men brought diverse backgrounds to the company. Dallin Larsen, a graduate of Brigham Young University, had previously held senior executive positions with two other network marketing companies, Usana and Dynamic Essentials. Marsh was a four-time member of the US Olympic track and field team and has gone on to serve the Olympic movement on the US Olympic Committee and as a member of the Board of Trustees for the 2002 Salt Lake Olympic Committee. Randy Larsen is a veteran entrepreneur with experience in restaurants, retail chains, nutritional products, and the direct selling industry. Randy Larsen has also owned and operated fifty-seven health and fitness clinics throughout the US.

MonaVie has grown quickly and now has close to 50,000 distributors in North and South America, Asia, the South Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East. There is scientific support for the claim that the main ingredient in MonaVie’s juice products, the acai berry, is rich in antioxidants, which potentially reduce the risk of cancer.

The company’s corporate headquarters are in South Jordan Utah, with distribution/pickup centers currently operating in Utah, Florida, Canada, Singapore, Anaheim, Tulsa, and Puerto Rico.

The Products

MonaVie produces and distributes a line of nutritional juices based primarily on the acai berry, a South American fruit that has proven in some studies to have a high concentration of potentially cancer-fighting chemical compounds called antioxidants.

Specifically, MonaVie claims that acai berries contain concentrated levels of polyphenols as well as amino acids, phytonutrients, vitamins, and trace minerals.

Acai has become very popular in the past several years, featuring fairly prominently in the aisles of most health food stores.

While all MonaVie juices are based heavily on acai berry juice, the company has also formulated four juice products to target specific health needs, as well as a Kosher version of their main product.

A 25oz bottle of MonaVie juice costs roughly $30-$40, depending on whether you’re buying it retail or wholesale. The product is packaged in beautiful bottles that resemble wine bottles. The company suggests drinking 2 ounces in the morning and 1 in the evening for optimal health results.

The MonaVie compensation plan is tied directly to sales of the product. There are bonuses for retail sales, signing up Preferred Customers, bulk orders, and first orders. There is also a one-time bonus for each new distributor you recruit.

MonaVie distributors are able to recruit two “legs” of downlines, with the majority of bonuses and other payments being tied directly to the sales figures earned by those downlines.

The company also allows people who are only interested in getting a discount on their product line to become Preferred Customers. Preferred Customers can either make one-time purchases or sign up to receive products monthly.

Roughly 1% of MonaVie distributors earn incomes of more than $18,000. However, the vast majority of the distributors who are making good money with this opportunity are working decidedly part-time hours.

If you are interested in and passionate about nutrition and health and have a good sense of style, MonaVie may be a good fit for you.

The company’s website and marketing materials definitely convey the sense of a stylish, successful company on the move. While many MLM companies offer a car to top earners, for example, top MonaVie distributors can qualify for a Mercedes.

MonaVie also offers distributors a wealth of support through its MonaVie University, which offers webinars, podcasts, and courses to help with everything from fully understanding the company’s compensation plan to using social networking sites to build your business.

The bottom line here is that MonaVie has created a product that’s on the cutting edge of new science in preventing cancer and in supporting our health in other ways as well. The main ingredient in the company’s products – the acai berry – is extremely popular and enjoys a high level of name recognition in the health food industry at present.

MonaVie has found a way to take a product that’s tailor made for health-conscious consumers and package it in such a way as to truly appeal to the higher-income market that the company is obviously targeting. While MonaVie products are sold at a higher price point than comparable products, the company’s packaging and marketing gives a solid impression that their acai juice is the best on the market.

Of course, just like with any MLM opportunity, very few people have made it to top earner status through MonaVie. However, the company’s own Income Disclosure shows that there are people making respectable incomes with MonaVie while putting in very few hours per week, making the company a particularly good bet for those looking for a second or third income stream.

If you are looking for an opportunity that provides plenty of support, has an upscale target market, and that focuses on a highly popular health supplement, MonaVie is quite possibly a great MLM fit for you.

After reading through all the MonaVie info here, I think that this reviewer has basically drunk the KoolAid – or should I say, the MonaVie. Bottom line is, 97% of distributors make less than $9,000 per year. I could make more than that by selling my old clothes on eBay.

Not to mention that I am kind of sick of hearing about “superfoods.” I mean, this is a figment of marketing imagination if I’ve ever heard one. Please. Forty bucks for what amounts to 8 days worth of juice? Someone is laughing all the way to the bank.

Plus, I don’t need juice that’s packaged to look like wine. If I’m going to drop $40, it had better be wine, not just look like wine.

Maybe I’m wrong, but this stuff seems like it’s for the birds. Glorified grape juice just doesn’t do it for me. If you’re interested in a side income, check out Scentsy instead.
