Before being acquired by The Trump Network in November 2009, Ideal Health was founded in 1997 by the partnership of Todd and Scott Standwood and Lou DeCaprio. The team collectively has three decades of experience in the health and wellness, personal care, and network marketing industries.
It was Todd Standwood’s idea to create a company around customizable nutritional supplements. To that end, he brought together a large number of high-powered individuals in the fields of medicine, nutrition, and medical research to formulate the company’s products and the metabolic test that allows the company to define each individual’s specific nutritional needs.
After spending more than three years promoting the concept of network marketing as a way to create and protect one’s personal wealth, Donald Trump joined the company and it was renamed The Trump Network in November, 2009.
There is evidence that The Trump Network offers a high-quality line of nutritional supplements thanks to the brain trust behind Ideal Health. And, of course, the Trump name carries with it more than sufficient renown to make the company instantly recognizable.
The Trump Network is based in Rowley, MA.
The Trump Products
By joining forces with Ideal Health, The Trump Network is able to market a high-quality line of nutritional products including customized multivitamins, products for specialized and short-term nutritional needs, botanical drink mixes, and a weight loss program.
The Trump Network also stands apart from other nutritional-product marketing opportunities in that The Trump Network offers the PrivaTest, a home metabolic test that is used by Ideal Health to create customized nutritional products. The PrivaTest costs $79.95.
The company’s main nutritional product is called Custom Essentials. This is the customized multivitamin created for each customer according to the results of the PrivaTest. This product is available for a monthly cost of about $50 plus shipping.
There is also a diverse range of customizable nutritional supplements available for specific bodily issues including memory loss and joint issues.
The company’s specific supplement offerings also include children’s’ supplements, a non-customized multivitamin, and the “Occasional Series” of supplements – supplements taken for a short time to boost the immune system.
QuickStiks are nutritional Botanical Supplement Mixes that are formulated to help customers either to boost their energy in the daytime or to relax in the evening.
The Trump Network’s weight loss program, The Silhouette Solution, was formulated by Ideal Health in conjunction with Dr. George Blackburn of Harvard. It consists of specially formulated foods and recipes that are designed to help the customer achieve fast and healthy weight loss.
Donald Trumps Marketing Opportunity and Compensation
It is possible to become a new network marketer with The Trump Network for the purchase of a $48 Marketer Kit. At this level you can purchase product at wholesale prices for resale and have access to a Personal Business Center to keep track of your business.
As with many network marketing companies, though, The Trump Network puts a heavy stress on recruiting downline members. The vast majority of The Trump Network’s website, in fact, is dedicated to selling the opportunity and to encouraging new Marketers to start building a downline immediately.
To that end, the company offers what it calls The FastStart-to-Profit Way, a program that allows new Marketers to recoup their initial investment by recruiting their first five downline members into the same program. FastStart-to-Profit is available for $497 for the QuickSilver version of the program and $1,688 for the Gold, “… a proven program that allows you to provide your prospects with product immediately.”
Program membership includes three months’ free access to the company’s Communication Plan, a customized website, training materials, sales materials, and enrollment in the AutoShip 100 CV Plan, which provides marketers with $700 worth of product. After the initial three months in the Communications Plan and the initial shipment of AutoShip 100 CV Plan products, marketers are billed $19.95 per month and $129.20 per month.
In other words, if you sign up with The Trump Network, you’re going to be making a notable monthly investment and receiving a lot of product.
As for compensation, The Trump Network has a complicated plan including different commissions for recruiting people into the FastStart-to-Profit program and commissions ranging from 4% to 1% for downline members, with the average commission being 3% of downline members’ sales.
MLM Files Recommendations
The Trump Network takes a product line that already had a reputation for high quality and marries it to one of the most recognized names in wealth-creation history. That fact alone gives the company a huge head start over other new network marketing companies that may have quality products or services but don’t have a big name behind them.
It will be interesting to see if The Trump Network starts a trend of big-name businesses and celebrities putting their names into the network marketing ring.
As far as the Trump Network is concerned, though, the basic Marketer Plan seems like a good value for people whose main interest lies in the product line itself. Entrepreneurs who are already affiliated with the holistic health and weight loss industries would do well to at least check out what The Trump Network has to offer and see if they can fit its products into their existing business plans.
If you are interested in becoming a network marketer through The Trump Network, keep in mind that you will need to at least be willing to learn excellent people skills quickly in order to be successful. The vast majority of profits to be made are completely tied to the recruitment and maintenance of a substantial downline.
The bottom line is that The Trump Network is a solid opportunity for the right person. Given that the company is still relatively new, there is the chance to get in on the ground floor and build a substantial downline. And The Trump Network offers a lot of support and a program designed specifically to help marketers make that happen.
The company is also a good bet for people with the disposable income to spare who want to take their time building a core downline of smart, outgoing, and motivated people. However, if your financial situation is such that an initial outlay of $500 and monthly costs of roughly $140 per month will hurt you, this isn’t the company for you.
Kerry says…
What does a well-known billionaire do when he wants to get involved with Multi Level Marketing (MLM)? Easy question—he buys an entire MLM company.
Which, of course, explains why there is a new MLM opportunity out there bearing one of world’s most easily recognized brands—Donald Trump’s The Trump Network.
Trump is uber-successful because he is both lucky and smart. Some things have fallen into his lap. Other things he’s made happen by himself. The end result is a multi-billion dollar fortune and rock star level name recognition. He continues to capitalize on both.
The Donald’s new MLM venture is a prime example of how smart he is—a textbook business case that marketing majors everywhere should study. It’s a business school example (Trump went to UPenn’s Wharton School) on how to leverage capital and a recognized brand at the same time.
He first went public with the king of wealth creation, Robert Kiyosaki, to trumpet the business value of network marketing. He made it clear that The Donald believes network marketing to be a powerful method of creating a passive stream of income. And Kiyosaki was right there with him, for added credibility—and pizzazz.
Then he bought Ideal Health, a generally competent maker of nutritional products, branded them neatly, slapped his famous name on them, and presto, instant MLM. He had already stacked the deck by publicly endorsing MLM, and now his legions of followers could partner with the great man himself and get rich right along side of him.
Not so fast.
Trumps’s products are simply the latest and greatest iteration of MLM du jour. Every year a couple more hit the market. Some succeed—and some fail.
The jury’s still out on Trump’s new enterprise.
His name might be all over the box, but don’t expect to meet the man anytime soon. He certainly won’t be right next to you in the trenches, helping to market and sell. (He will, however, profit greatly from whatever you buy, so in that sense the two of you will be partners. Of sorts.)
At the end of the day, it’s just like buying a baseball glove with A-Rod’s name on it. It looks cool, but it won’t help you make any spectacular catches. Just like the Trump name, it’s for show only.
Your chances of success with the Trump Network are neither better nor worse than they are with any other MLM opportunity based on nutritional products. It’s best to proceed accordingly.
